Summary: The Facilities Custodian Lead is responsible for overseeing and participating in the daily cleaning and upkeep of the facility, grounds, production areas, and units. This leadership role ensures that all custodial tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard, while also coordinating the work of custodial staff and promoting a clean, safe, and organized work environment across the facility.

Accountabilities:
  • Help lead and coordinate the daily activities of custodial staff to ensure cleanliness standards are consistently met across the facility, including production, restrooms, offices, and exterior grounds.
  • Conduct regular inspections to maintain a high standard of cleanliness, identify areas for improvement, and report maintenance issues to management.
  • Train and mentor custodial team members on cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and the proper use of equipment and cleaning supplies.
  • Perform custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing of all areas on a regular schedule.
  • Maintain the exterior of the facility by clearing trash and debris, especially in entryways and shipping/receiving areas.
  • Clean production shop floor and ensure it remains free of debris to support operational efficiency.
  • Oversee and assist in cleaning completed units prior to shipment.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and promote a culture of cleanliness and accountability.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify appropriate personnel when reordering is needed.
  • Support special projects and other job-related duties as assigned by management.
 
Required Knowledge/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 2+ years of custodial experience, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred.
  • Ability to lead by example and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Forklift operation experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods (8–10 hour shifts).
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe, clean workplace.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
