Senior Manager/Supervisor

Summary:
The Director of Materials is responsible for leading  enterprise-aligned materials management, supply chain, logistics, warehousing, and master scheduling activities in support of the Modular Center of Excellence for Mission Critical Group. This role ensures uninterrupted material flow to support modular manufacturing operations, optimized logistics for inbound materials and outbound modular units, and disciplined cost control across materials and freight while enabling scalable growth and clear-to-build readiness across the modular platform.

The position plays a critical role in enabling predictable on time, on cost, and high-quality delivery of modular structures to mission critical customers through proactive material strategy, risk mitigation, and integrated planning.

The Director of Materials partners closely with Modular Operations, Sales, Engineering, Project Management, Quality, and Finance to align material strategy with production schedules, capacity plans, and customer delivery commitments across multiple manufacturing sites and serves as the primary material leader within the Modular.

Accountabilities:
Materials Sourcing and Supply Chain
  • Develop and execute  commodity driven and supply continuity strategies  for raw materials, fabricated components, and purchased assemblies used in modular structure manufacturing
  • Lead supplier selection, qualification, pricing negotiations, and contract management to support quality, delivery, and cost objectives while ensuring alignment with enterprise supplier governance standards
  • Establish supplier KPIs (delivery, quality, cost, responsiveness) and drive continuous improvement through structured performance management and supplier engagement
  • Manage long lead and critical materials to support project driven modular builds with forward-looking visibility and risk buffering.
  • Identify supply risks and implement mitigation plans to protect production schedules including dual sourcing, capacity planning, and regional supply alignment
Logistics and Transportation
  • Oversee inbound logistics for materials delivered to Modular COE facilities.
  • Optimize outbound logistics for delivery of completed modular units to customer sites to ensure cost efficiency and schedule integrity.  
  • Manage carrier selection, routing strategies, packaging standards, and freight cost controls.
  •  Coordinate logistics execution with production schedules and project delivery milestones to maintain project readiness, material clear to build, and sit delivery alignment.
Warehouse Operations and Line Side Delivery
  • Direct all warehouse activities including receiving, storage, inventory control, picking, staging, and shipment
  • Ensure accurate and timely picking and delivery of materials to line side to support modular production flow
  • Implement warehouse best practices to improve productivity, safety, space utilization, and inventory accuracy
  • Establish KPIs for warehouse performance, material availability, and production support
  • Drive operational readiness by developing kitting strategies to support modular takt-based production
Master Scheduling and Planning
  • Own master scheduling and material planning across multiple Modular COE sites
  • Own MRP processes to align demand, inventory, and capacity with production execution
  • Partner with Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Operations to translate project demand into executable production and material plans
  • Support the MCG SIOP process as the MCG Modular COE SIOP leader
    Adjust schedules proactively based on design changes, customer priorities, or supply constraints to maintain CTB readiness.
Cost Reduction and Inventory Optimization
  • Drive material cost reduction through sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and design for manufacturability collaboration
  • Reduce logistics and freight costs through improved planning, consolidation, and routing strategies
  • Optimize inventory levels to balance working capital, production continuity, and project requirements
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on material flow, lead time reduction, and waste elimination
  • Develop inventory segmentation strategies aligned to project risk, demand variability, and long lead time material exposure
Systems, Compliance, and Leadership
  • Ensure effective use of ERP/MRP, and warehouse management systems to drive data accuracy and visibility
  • Establish and maintain standard work, policies, and procedures for materials management within the Modular COE
  • Lead and develop a high performing team of buyers, planners, schedulers, and warehouse personnel. Manage employee performance reviews and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements across all materials and logistics activities
  • Serve as the functional leader for modular materials governance, supporting enterprise digitization and commodity visibility initiatives

Required Knowledge/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • 8 to 12 years of progressive experience in materials management, supply chain, or logistics within a manufacturing environment
  • Direct experience supporting project based or modular manufacturing operations
    Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, and warehouse management processes
  • Proven ability to manage complex material flows in fast paced production environments
  • Demonstrated success driving material and logistics cost reduction
Preferred
  • Experience in modular construction, mission critical infrastructure, power, data center, or industrial manufacturing
  • Multi-site manufacturing planning and scheduling experience
  • CPIM – Certified in Production and Inventory Management or similar
    Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience (Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or higher)
  • Advanced negotiation and supplier management expertise
  • Experience operating within an integrated SIOP or project-based planning environment
