Required Knowledge/Experience:- High School Diploma, equivalent, or any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties (Compensation and level of position depend upon qualifications and experience)
- Strong understanding of modeling preferred Solid Works, drawing, & drafting principles and best practices. Sheet metal k-factors and bend allowances
- Tooling and jig development for weldments
- CNC, Press brake and Laser programing knowledge preferred
- Experience in Solidworks, PDM, AutoCAD, Revit, ProNest, SigmaNEST, Microsoft Office, and ability to adapt to other tools.
- Proficiency in a parametric 3D CAD system such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or Creo, with experience creating detailed models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings for complex mechanical or structural products.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and structural design principles, including the ability to interpret and apply applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements relevant to industrial equipment and steel structures.
- Demonstrated experience preparing complete drawing packages and bills of materials suitable for manufacturing, including attention to accuracy, revision control, and documentation quality.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and project management to ensure designs meet technical, cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Proven problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues and recommend practical, technically sound solutions.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience designing welded steel enclosures, skids, or structural systems for power generation, industrial equipment, or similar applications.
- Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards such as ASME, AISC, AWS, NFPA, UL, IBC, and OSHA, including experience supporting designs through third-party review or certification.
- Demonstrated competency in design for manufacturing and assembly, including direct collaboration with fabrication and assembly teams to improve cost, quality, and build efficiency.
- Experience supporting or performing basic engineering analyses such as load calculations, thermal considerations, airflow or ventilation layouts, and tolerance analysis.
- Track record of owning designs through the full product lifecycle, including concept development, production support, field issue resolution, and incorporation of customer feedback into continuous improvement.
