Job Summary:
This role will be a multi-disciplinary position within the engineering department of JTS’s Power Packaging division. Duties in this position will include Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, CNC Programming, Part Nesting, Steel Take-Offs, Organization of drawings and drawing and model libraries and folders, and Management of Engineering Bills of Material. This position reports to the Project Engineering Manager but also supports the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will interface with Project Management, Production, and Planning. This position will mentor junior employees in the covered disciplines.
Who You Are:
- Someone who blends technical expertise with creative problem-solving to develop high-impact, real-world solutions.
- Produce Mechanical designs and drawing packages.
- Produce Electrical designs and drawing packages.
- Coordinate with Engineers to have designs analyzed and stamped.
- Assist with programming of CNC machines and passing design data to those machines.
- Create and manage bend profiles for press brakes.
- Nest parts and create steel take-offs to optimize metal usage.
- Troubleshoot design and production issues.
- Help create and improve drawing standards, model libraries, drawings libraries, and how data files are stored and organized.
- Create and manage engineering bills of material and coordinate with Planning and Purchasing to optimize how we transfer engineering and production needs to them.
- Mentor Engineering and Production staff in the disciplines of this position, tools available, and current and new machines introduced into the facilities.
- Ensure products meet safety and quality standards.
- Complete work on schedule to support development and production schedules.
- Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and SolidWorks PDM experience.
- Experience working with sheet metal nesting software such as Pronest or SigmaNest.
- Experience working with Diamond Bend for setting press brake bend profiles.
- CNC programming experience.
- Experience with CAD/CAM and CNC machines.
- Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Understand sheet metal and structural steel cutting, forming and machine capabilities.
- Ability to think creatively and devise novel solutions to complex, multi-discipline design problems.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills, ability to self-motivate.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively across departments.
- High-level computer skills, proficient in creating plans and bills of materials using relevant software.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
